Reggio Emilia

We Partner with Reggio Emilia

Autism and Behavioral Spectrum is a private Reggio Emilia preschool and before and after school program committed to building respect, responsibility, and community for a brighter future. We accomplish this by creating a supportive and enriching educational environment that fosters increased knowledge through exploration and discovery. A self-guided curriculum is created based on the needs and interests of each individual child. By committing to these principles and the highest level of education, we guide each individual to a promising future.

Reggio Emilia, a village in northern Italy, was the first to adopt the mindset that children are born with "one hundred languages" through which they can express their ideas. The aim of this approach is teaching children how to use these symbolic languages (eg., painting, sculpting, drama, music) and personal interests in everyday life in a functional way.

The Reggio Emilia Approach requires team members to work with intelligent sensitivity and special empathy towards children. Leaders must possess the habit of questioning their certainties, a great deal of awareness and availability, a critical style of research, and the skills to talk, listen, and learn from children and their parents. It is their responsibility to organize the classroom environment and it's rich and various materials in a way that makes the classrooms amiable environments, as well as beautiful and engaging spaces.

Visitors of Reggio Emilia schools often denote the quality and creativity of the physical space, as special care is given to the appearance of the environment. A strong sense of beauty, along with spatial design that fosters environmental exploration and social interaction, are essential elements of the Reggio Emilia educational culture.

Founder Naina Aijaz Haider has decided to dedicate a center that utilizes the Reggio Emilia methodology towards children who would benefit from additional attention towards their educational, social, emotional, and/or behavioral development.
As the founder of Autism and Behavioral Spectrum, I truly believe in a community style teaching method and an individualized curriculum being the best way to ensure that we are able to find out what is special about each child. Only then can we use the interest of the child to create a bond that results in exploration, discovery and understanding. We are not only here to teach but to constantly research the beautiful mind of a child.
